Membership of Blackheath Squash Club is open to all members of the community and we particularly encourage female and junior squash players of all abilities. We are a CASC (Community Amateur Sports Club)  registered with HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs), are open to the whole community and have affordable Membership Fees. With two courts on the edge of Blackheath, we organise :-

Membership of the club is currently £114p.a. for adults and £10 p.a. for juniors, renewable on the 1st October and with a pro-rata charge applicable for adults.  Junior membership at £10 is to encourage more younger players to take up and play the game.

So if you join as an adult member of the club in April the joining fee would be 50% of the annual charge and cost just £57.00. This is just £9.50 per month.  Light tokens are also needed and these currently cost £1.50 for 10 minutes play, which is just £6 for 40 minutes squash.

Junior Squash

Popular Junior Squash sessions take place most Saturday mornings for ages 9 to 16. The morning is split into two sessions :- 09:00 – 10:30 and 10:30 – 12:00.  These are aimed at giving youngsters the chance to learn to play squash in a safe, fun and friendly environment. These sessions are held on Saturday mornings, run for around 90 minutes and the first session is free. All abilities are welcome, from beginner to advanced player, and all equipment (rackets, eye protection etc.) is provided. Eye protection is mandatory for the sessions and eye protection is available along with rackets etc.

These sessions are popular so if you have a youngster you’d be interested to get involved please contact the Junior Squash Coach for more details. Please note that Membership is NOT required to attend these sessions but junior players can also join the club for an annual fee which is currently £10 p.a.

Ladies Squash

For ladies who would like to try out the sport, or return to it, we are looking to see if we can run a “Ladies Only” session, where no membership is required if there is enough demand.  Please note that currently these sessions are not running due to a lack of demand, but we will look to re-introduce them if there is enough interest and participation.

Club Night

We also run a popular “Club Night” on Fridays between 8pm and 9:30pm, where you are encouraged to come along and see if you like the club and the sport. These sessions are open to non-members and the cost of attending is just £3 which helps to cover the lighting fees and maintenance. Any level of player is welcome, from beginner to county player and you can just turn up for the session or contact:

Booking Courts

Adult and junior members have equal priority over court bookings and for the future good of the game, junior matches are encouraged.

Once you have joined as a Member you can currently book courts Monday to Friday, 6:00pm until 9:20pm and Weekends between 12 noon and 6:40pm. At all other times the Club does not operate a booking system, so, once you have light tokens you can play whenever you wish. The courts are available for use 365 days a year. Outside of Booking System hours, the use of the courts function on a ‘first come, first served’ basis and should both courts be being used at the time of your arrival, there is a whiteboard in the corridor to mark you and your opponents names down. When the first court then becomes free, the first names entered on the whiteboard commence their game on that court and so on and so forth. We have found over the years that this system works effectively and you should never have more than a 15-20 minute wait. There is a viewing gallery / lounge area above the Courts which you can access should you have to wait to play, and this provides a good opportunity to meet other members and watch the games taking place on court.

Particular times are nominated for pre-booked activities, eg team matches, coaching sessions, tournaments etc. Weekly emails are sent out to all Members advising the times when the courts will be free from such pre-booked activities.

Other things that go on…

BSC runs four successful teams men’s teams and also ran a ladies team until recently. The men’s teams compete in the North Kent League and the captains are always interested in talking to players who would like to have a go. We also ran a ladies team until recently and are looking for new recruits to re-invigorate the ladies team.  If you are interested in playing in one of the teams, please come to Club Night where we can put you in touch with one of the Team Captains. Alternatively you can email one of the Captains directly via this link:-

The Club runs two tournaments annually and entry to both tournaments is included in your annual membership fee. One tournament comprises the Club Championship which incorporates a plate, doubles and various age categories and a second tournament where different players are graded according to their strength and ability which anyone can win!! Details and dates of the tournaments are sent out in advance to ascertain who would like to play. These again provide a great opportunity to play players you might not otherwise play and to meet other people at the Club.

The membership fees are re-invested into the club and are being used for a rolling refurbishment programme, which has already resulted in significantly enhanced courts.

Membership is annual on 1st October each year – full year membership is currently only £114 (Adult) or £10 (Junior).
